Submit a Play

The River Falls Community Theatre is proud to partner with local writers and playwrights to produce shows for our community, by our community.

Playwrights wishing to be considered for the upcoming (2026/2027) season can apply during our open submission period, May 1 - August 15, 2026. The authors of the pieces chosen will be notified by the end of August. We would also like our chosen playwrights to attend some of the rehearsals for their script and be involved in the production process.

Before submitting your play for board review, please note the submission guidelines:

Submission Guidelines

1. Works must be the original work of the submitting playwright. Adaptations (or any other use of material protected by copyright) must include proof of rights to use source material.

2. Your script must be a full, completed draft.

3. Your script must be in a stage play format--other formats such as novelizations, screenplays, and poetry are not accepted.

4. Your script must have a detailed cast breakdown and props/set piece list ahead of the body of the script. 

5. Your script should contain a brief synopsis (think a ‘blurb’ on the inside cover of a novel).

What to Submit

To apply to have an original work considered in our upcoming season, please submit the following to info@rfcommunitheatre.org.

1. The full, completed draft of your play, in either a .PDF or .DOCX format. The pages of your play should be numbered.

2. A title page that includes the name of the play, your name, and your contact information.

3. Some options for directors of the piece (a playwright is more than welcome to direct their own show!)

4. A brief biography [Optional]

Thank you for sharing your creativity with us! While we don’t have set criteria for what we produce, we look at things such as production feasibility, overall quality of the plot and writing, compatibility with our seasonal structure of productions, and resonance with our pool of actors and our local River Falls audience.
